you are not alone. This is probably the most common canine
behavior problems. And unfortunately, this is also usually one
of the hardest ones to stop.
Most people initially turn towards using a dog bark collar.
These come in a wide variety of styles. There are three main
ones, there are shock collars, citronella spray collars, and
vibrating collars. The last two collars listed are the most
humane ones to use.
The Best Combo
Many people when they want to stop barking dogs only use a
no bark collar. While this might work in initially, but if you
want a truly long-term solution to this common canine behavior
problem you should combine a no bark collar with traditional
dog training.
Behavioral modification takes time on your part but is the
only true solution if you want to stop barking dogs. Many
people unknowingly reinforce their dogs unwanted behavior.
The Root Cause
Usually dogs exhibit this type of behavior when they want to
alert their owners to some perceived threat or danger. Other
dogs might bark because they want to be fed, or go for a walk.
And still other dogs might bark simply because they are sick of
being teased by the children.
Whatever the root cause of it is, you have to find out what
it is. If your dog is barking at neighbors in the backyard, one
solution might be to put up a fence.
If your dog is barking because it wants to be fed, then
maybe you should feed it sooner or in more frequent
intervals.
If the dog is barking because it's being teased by your
children, then you have to teach your children how to better
behave around the dog.
City Ordinances
It is very import and that if you have a puppy, to start
teaching them while they're young that it is inappropriate to
bark. Many people do not view their dogs barking as a problem
until the neighbors complain or animal control visits them.
It is only after getting come formal complaints that many
owners look towards finding a solution. At this point, however
it is much more difficult because your dog has developed a very
strong habit of barking.
And just like when it comes to people, dogs have a hard time
breaking habits as well. But if you prove to your dog that you
are in charge, most dogs will want to please you because they
want to remain a part of your pack.
So as long as you set a consistent example that barking is
allowed, then you should truly see some results.
